Add seven more poles which signifies the four directions, up, down, and the center fire. Now we have ten poles which represents the laws of Mother Earth and Father Sky. Add two outside poles for the ears (air) which makes twelve poles represents twelve months, the morning star, the evening star, and the seven stars in the big dipper. Twelve poles, twelve stars, twelve months.

This particular tipi is a twenty-eight round and due to its weight can be difficult to handle. The people are preparing the cover to place over the poles.

The top of the tipi shows the eagle's nest. The man with his head poked out of the top seems to be asking, is this the door? Maybe some one should climb up there and tell him the door is one on the ground.

This is the big community tipi. It holds about fifty people.

This is the grandmother lodge. It is the ceremonial tipi for the women and is also used to prepare our young girls for their womanhood ceremony.

This is our greenhouse where we grow our healing and natural herbs along with vegetables. The large tree in the fore front is the sacred cottonwood tree. This kind of tree is used in our sacred Sundance ceremony.
