THE WINTER SOLSTICE JOURNEY

CELEBRATE YOUR EXISTENCE 

 

On December 21, 2004, a darkened Moon waned to a narrow crescent as Winter Solstice marked the first day of winter, giving us the shortest day and the longest night of the year. Mother Earth is traveling around the Sun, in a North ñSouth position continuing to make her changes within the respect to the Sun.

The elders always told us to always pray and ask Father Sun to stop its Southerly journey and return to the North.

  Oh, Great Sun, the Winter Solstice ceremony has come and gone. We implore you to stop your southward journey!  If you do not begin your return voyage soon, the winter will be overly long, and all life will suffer.  Many birds have left to follow your journey. The bear is asleep in her den. The deer and the buffalo must brush back the snow to feed. Many of the small animals are spending their time underground in order to stay snug and warm. Every living thing, both plant and animal, has prepared itself for the devastating cold of winter.

  The snow piles high around the lodges of the People and Yate, the cold North Wind, whispers a haunting melody as he rushes by the ear-flaps of each tipi.  The leaves have dropped from the trees. The ground is too frozen to dig for roots or to allow new life to sprout, and what seeds remain have been scattered by Yateís blustering breath. Sparkling ice crystals coat the margins of the streams.

  We have prudently prepared for your annual journey away from us. The parfleches are filled with stored food, and firewood is piled high nearby.  We have faithfully followed the dictates of the seasons.  We planted in spring and enjoyed the fresh new growth. We tended our crops through summer.  We gathered the fruits of our labors in autumn, and carefully sorted and put away that which was to be used through winter. But we fear that if you do not start your journey back to us soon, our stores will run out, causing hunger to gnaw at our bellies and sickness to consume us. The animals too, have prepared but, their endurance will be sorely tested before your return brings the season of new beginnings.

  We sit now within our lodges and consider what will be recorded on the winter count hide. Choosing this event is an important responsibility and requires us to reflect carefully on what we are leaving for the future generations.

  On a personal level, we consider all that has transpired since the last winter solstice, ascertaining what has worked well for us, and what requires change. We look for what has lasting significance in our lives so that we may discover how best to use the time left this winter.

  Time has almost eaten up another year. We sit reflecting on the past and see what we have accomplished. Did we fulfill our goals and dreams, or place them aside for another time?  Since we are individuals with unlimited power, help us step up to our potential.

  We know that beauty has lasting significance, and enriches our lives and the lives of those around us. We think these things as we spend our time in mending, sewing and making the objects of our daily life beautiful, so that it will reflect our love for the Great Spirit and our Mother Earth.    

  Huddled around blazing fires within our lodges, once again, we are reminded of our humble beginnings. We sit in silence and reflect and dream. This is a necessary part of our life circle. We share the ancient stories handed down by the wisdom-keepers, reminding us of our obligations to future generations.

  We have done our best, so again we ask you, Oh Mighty Sun, ìDo not prolong your journey.î The sky watchers say that you are at rest in your southern house, but do not linger there, we need you. We join together in ceremony and implore your return.  You have always responded to our pleas in the past. Please do not forsake us now.  Oh, Great Sun, you have traveled to far away! The people need you. If you will begin your return trip today, we will have sufficient time to complete the needs of this season.  Please do not delay, or this period of rest and renewal may become a time of deprivation and suffering. Hear your children. Come back and bring the spring, so the people may live.  

  Another year in your life has ended. It is time to reflect back and show gratitude for every experience you have incurred. Did you have the success you wanted or were you a failure in many of your endeavors? What would you change if you could relive the past year? Will the Real You Stand Up within your power IN THE YEAR 2005.

 


 

 

WHO ARE YOU

 

  For this coming year, why not look deeper into your mental,  emotional state of being. When someone speaks to you, do you accept their statements as a fact?  Do you take the time to analyze what is being said before you allow it to become a part of your thinking?  Do you think for yourself, or do you let the infringement of others influence your thoughts and actions?  Do you express your truth in every thought or actions?  Do you repeat what you have heard or read without deeper examination?  Are your thoughts and ideas really yours?  If not, it is time to sort through your true beliefs and discard those that do not belong to you.

Do you project to others a truthful image of who you truly are?  Does this come across to others?  Do you live your life as an example of your beliefs?  What is your opinion of who you are?  Do your friends, family and co-workers share in this opinion, or do they see you different?  If so, what are those differences? Consider these questions carefully, and rebuild your value structures to project who you are.

  You are in control of your thoughts and actions. You can program your mind to project a good and positive person.  It will help to differentiate between your needs and your desires.  You may desire many things in life, but are they reflective of your true needs?  When you fulfill your true life, are you the person you were meant to become? Your life journey on Mother Earth is a process of learning and developing all that you are, youíre true Self.

  When we become aware of our responses and feelings, we are standing in our power. Exercise caution when releasing your strong feelings of anger and hate toward another.  Never take yourself for granted. Set reasonable expectations upon your growth and strive to meet those expectations under all conditions. 

  Believe in your ability to change. We all want a peaceful and happy life. Project to yourself and others; know the true value of your principles. Build a good life for yourself and share it with humanity. It is not necessary to give thoughtless heartache or problems to yourself or those you love.

  When you live with honor and integrity, these are qualities which no one can take from you unless you allow it.  You are responsible for your life and every thought, speech or deed.  Learn to analyze and understand your motives.  Only then are you in touch with all that you are. Smile and accept your individuality, then applaud your differences as a good human.

  Choose wisely in every decision you make, remember, it will take that direction. The intensity of your positive motivation will create the energy that flows through your mind, body, emotions and soul.  When you become tired, bored, stressed and impatient donít isolate yourself. Once in a calm state, redirect your energies, respect and honor the gift of life. Relax and breathe slowly. Think through your situation and explore your purpose of being in the situation that makes you unhappy.

  Believe in yourself.  Be happy! Feel a renewed confidence exuding with new energy. Let your life energies flow to success. Never allow a people, place or thing take control of your energy again. Become aware of the situations that you allow to come into your life and see how many minutes, Days, weeks or months that have been wasted on fruitless thought.  Spend the time and do what is right for you, allowing others to do the same for themselves.

  Would you allow an untrained dog to walk in busy traffic without a leash?  Of course not.  You would protect the dog from harm. You must protect and care for yourself in the same way.

 

 

CONTEMPLATION

This year make a decision. GET UP! GET OUT! LIVE! Remind yourself daily, you are in control of your life.  You have the right to choose who is to share within your life.  The choice is yours!  Move slowly and choose wisely.  Learn to channel restless energy towards positive outcomes for self.  Never allow  

Restless energy to go unharnessed.  Energy is what provides momentum in your life. NEVER, allow negative words and actions from others to control your life again.  Learn to choose what you want and what you do not want in your life.  Remind yourself daily that your thoughts and actions will become your reality.  Beware of what you think. You may create something you do not wish to live with.  You and only you are the creator of your direction, your success, your failures and your tomorrows. Take responsibility for the direction of your life in 2005.

 

 


 

 

 

A GUIDE TO SHADOW WORLD

 

  There are many books, Tapes and CDíS on the market concerning relaxation, stillness of the mind, hypnosis, self-hypnosis, meditation, prayer and shadow world. All of the above techniques will create an altered state of mind and a deep stillness within the body greatly assisting you in reaching the inner mind, the home where all of your lifeís patterns and habits, both good and bad, reside. When you do things without thinking or without knowing the reason why, your actions are being guided by the subconscious mind causing you to automatically respond to a negative behavior.

  The technique used to reach the subconscious is known by many names, but the method is simple and to the point...it is relaxation through auto suggestion, a method of being guided by the power of suggestion.

  First, letís take a look at the history of this technique.  The field of Mind control was used in ancient times to control the masses, but actual experimentation was first recorded during the 16th and 17th centuries.  The first man to gain fame from his work with hypnosis was Frederick Anton Messmer from Vienna.  He frightened and excited thousands of people in Europe with his demonstrations of the power of suggestion.

  In more recent times, Sigmund Freud took giant steps in helping us to understand the mechanics of the human mind. Another researcher, Dr. Carl G. Jung, made his greatest contribution to mind science by connecting the conscious, sub-conscious and spiritual consciousness into one major entity, the supra-conscious.

  The conscious level of our thinking process only requires 12% of our brain.  This is the center of our reasoning ability. This part of our mind works as a filter and controls what is allowed to pass through to the next deeper level known as the sub-conscious.

  The sub-conscious level utilizes approximately 88% of the brain power you were born with and governs the automatic bodily functions. One of the duties of the inner mind is to control the nervous system and through this system, control all of the organs in our body.  Our sub-conscious works almost like a tape recorder, it does not judge, correct or try to interpret information, it merely observes and records it.  It takes everything we do at face value.  For example, as a child your big brother might have thrown a snow ball at you that was too well packed, causing it to hurt you.  Now, years later, every time you see someone throw a snow ball, you experience a sense of fear even though the snow ball is not being thrown directly at you.

  The conscious level of the mind has a poor memory, but everything you have ever done in your lifetime involving sight, sound, taste, touch and smell can be replayed in detail from the subconscious level when using hypnosis or shadow world techniques. 

  Properly used, hypnotism, neuro-linguistic programming can lessen pain, control bad habits or build your powers of concentration.  Hypnotism is in effect, a method of making a suggestion that the subject finds they want to obey, and if you create a pleasant enough image in a subjectís mind, you can have them carry out any command you desire.

  Since, I Wolf, is the greatest hypnotist and shape shifter in the world, I must say; Hypnotism can be useful in dealing with many problems, but remember you are in effect giving control of your mind over to someone else.  Although you may be under their influence for only what appears to be a short time, the suggestions planted in your mind could possibly have very long term and life altering consequences. Choose your guide well, making sure she/he is of the highest moral and ethical character. Consider recording your session for your protection and peace of mind.

  Hypnosis, self-hypnosis, meditation, shadow world, whatever term you wish to use, can help you change the patterns of your life and reshape it.  We all have the ability to affect change within ourselves... it is, after all, only a thought away.

Hello Everyone,

  My holidays were filled with fun and good food. Have you been watching the weather in Las Vegas? We have had rain daily for two week and expecting more to come. Would you believe we had snow in Las Vegas? The snowflakes were about the size of silver dollar. I was surprised they stayed on the ground for half a day.

  The mommie decided to clean, repair and put three coats on the Spanish tile. This meant she moved all the furniture, my food dishes and water bowl and closed me off from her, while she crawled around on the floor applying this stinky liquid stuff. Sometimes I wonder about her. She knows I have a keen smell.

  Can you imagine, I had to stay in the one room with carpet, and to get outside, I was forced to use another door rather than the one I know how to use. Can you believe, I was forced to live with this chaos for four days and nights.

  Well, alas, the four rooms are finished and she has three more rooms to finish. I am back in my regular room to eat and use my door to get outside. Oh well, Thankfully, I am back on my schedule without her interference.  I did figure out when she does the others three rooms, it will not interfere with my daily schedule.

  Oh, by the way, her muscles are very sore and she walks funny. I heard her tell someone on the phone, she found muscles she did not know she had. Well  two days have passed and she is still refusing to take me for a run.

WHAT EVER!!!!  I will keep you informed about her next project.
